WINNIPEG, Tuesday August 30, 2016 – Cereals Canada, in collaboration with the Prairie Oat Growers Association and the Barley Council of Canada, is excited to launch Keep it Clean – Cereals fall 2016. To learn more please visit: www.keepingitclean.ca

Keep it Clean – Cereals is an informational campaign aimed at reminding producers about the best management practices needed to preserve Canada’s place in world markets. Key focal points for the campaign include:

  • Knowing the market implication of all crop production products;
  • Always following the label when applying crop production products; and
  • Following best practices to avoid mycotoxin growth.

“Canada’s cereal crops have a great reputation at home and abroad,” noted Phil de Kemp, Executive Director of the Barley Council of Canada. “Let’s keep it that way.”

Art Enns, President of the Prairie Oat Growers Association, noted that “customers of Canadian cereals expect the best quality and Canada continues to provide that. This campaign is to remind farmers to keep doing their part to ensure that we meet this demand.”

“When exports are denied, millions of dollars are lost and future business is put at risk. “Proper pesticide and storage practices on the farm will keep Canadian cereals, and our reputation, clean,” stated Cam Dahl, President of Cereals Canada.

Keep it Clean – Cereals builds upon ongoing efforts by the Canola Council of Canada. “Rather than creating a stand-alone but similar brand, we have worked with the Canola Council of Canada to present a consistent message to producers across commodities,” continued Dahl. “This is an example of industry cooperation that benefits every part of the value chain,” concluded Dahl.
