Producer representative from the Alberta Wheat Commission
Todd Hames operates a 4,900-acre grain farm in the middle of the Canadian prairies, near Lloydminster, Alberta. He is a dedicated zero tillage farmer having grown canola, wheat, peas and barley under conservation tillage for 25 years.
Todd holds a degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Alberta. He was employed as a computer software engineer before returning to the family farm in 1991 to begin farming full time.
Todd is a strong advocate for farmers by being a director on Alberta Canola and now Alberta Wheat. He joined the Alberta Canola Producers Commission Board of Directors in January 2008 and became one of three Alberta representatives on the Canadian Canola Growers Association (CCGA) Board of Directors that same year. During his 6-year term with CCGA, he represented the association on the Grain Growers of Canada and the Canola Council of Canada. He served as CCGA’s President for two years. In 2018 Todd joined the Alberta Wheat Commission as a Director representing region 4, and now also joining Cereals Canada as a director representing Alberta Wheat in 2019.
Todd is an active member of his community participating in executive positions with many local volunteer boards and committees. He farms with his wife Janine and their four daughters.
