Cereals Canada is pleased to applaud the successful passing of Bill C-49 in both the House of Commons and Senate. C-49’s passing is integral to the future vitality of Canada’s cereals sector. 


Winnipeg, Wednesday, May 23, 2018 – Cereals Canada thanks Minister Marc Garneau and Minister Laurence MacAulay for their efforts on bringing forward this legislation. C-49 will improve Canada’s ability to deliver grain to our customers in a timely fashion. We also appreciate the thoughtful amendments brought forward by the Senate that have improved C-49’s effectiveness. 

“C-49 supports our reputation as a reliable supplier of grain. Passing this legislation reinforces the “Canada brand” as a reliable and trusted, supplier of safe, nutritious, and sustainable food” stated Cam Dahl, President of Cereals Canada 

“Cereals Canada views this legislation as a historic achievement for the grains industry,” continued Dahl. “ C-49 will provide for better commercial accountability in the grain transportation system and introduces competitive options for shippers. This outcome is good news for everyone involved – including Canada’s customers.”
