Cereals Canada Releases its 2022 Annual Report
Winnipeg, Manitoba June 29, 2023—Cereals Canada today released its 2022 annual report in an interactive digital format in English and French. The report provides an overview of how the organization worked to support the Canadian cereals value chain and highlights the progress made on its key objectives.
“In 2022, Cereals Canada celebrated 50 years of providing technical services to both domestic and international customers,” said board chair Jennifer Marchand. “Collaboration and connections have been pivotal to our success in the past year, and throughout the history of our organization.”
To ensure the success of the organization, the Cereals Canada board and staff work together to build relationships and forge partnerships that advance advocacy efforts, and research for the whole value chain. For example, working collaboratively with AAFC’s on a variety of programs, initiatives and advocating for the establishment of a Canadian Indo-Pacific Agriculture and Agri-Food Office, a move that will help strengthen ties and build important relationships across the region.
“We will continue to collaborate with other value chains, industry, and partners to bolster our reach,” adds Marchand.
In the 2022 growing season, Canadian farmers planted over 36 million acres of common wheat, durum, barley, and oats, meeting domestic and export demands. This, along with activities that support the cereals value chain such as transportation and processing, contributed to an impressive $68.8 billion economic boost to Canada, according to comprehensive research conducted by LMC International.
These efforts were supported by the advocacy and outreach efforts, and technical expertise, of the Cereals Canada team. In the past two years, the organization has completed 81 programs, webinars, missions, and technical exchanges involving 3,089 participants from 69 countries.
“Our facilities are one of a kind in Canada, with key technical experts being able to provide unbiased and accurate information to existing and potential customers,” Dean Dias, chief executive officer. “As the number one promoters of Canadian wheat, Cereals Canada will continue to build on Canada’s position as a reliable, nutritious, and sustainable supplier of high-quality cereal grains.”
