Cereals Canada Releases 2021 Annual Report

Winnipeg, Manitoba June 17, 2022: Cereals Canada today released its 2021 annual report, providing an overview of how the organization worked to support the Canadian cereals value chain and made progress on its key objectives, despite industry-wide challenges.

“In the last year, the entire industry came together to support each other,” said board chair Todd Hames. “We experienced drought, excess moisture, floods, geopolitical crisis, evolving marketplace concerns, and government regulation, yet we continued to maneuver through these events to help Canadian farmers and the cereals value chain.”

The report highlights the organization’s successes and milestones from the past year and provides a glimpse into the impact of the Canadian cereals industry, which supports the work of over 52,000 Canadian farms and returns $9.9 billion in export revenue to the Canadian economy.

“Canada is a leading global exporter of cereal grains, and we proudly hold the position as the world’s top exporter of durum wheat and oats,” said Dean Dias, Chief Executive Officer. “By mobilizing the value chain across priority areas, Cereals Canada is building on Canada’s position as a reliable, nutritious, and sustainable supplier of high-quality cereal grains.”

 As the voice of the Canadian Cereals value chain, Cereals Canada focuses on four strategic areas:

  • market access and advocacy;
  • market support and development;
  • growing Canadian demand;
  • and market and technical research.

“Our mission is to support the Canadian cereals value chain and our customers around the world,” said Dias. “While this past year provided challenges, we delivered on our promise to the industry. Looking ahead, we are committed to strengthening our relationships and continuing to promote Canadian cereals around the world.”
